Before product design, I was in financial planning and analysis, from sole analyst on a multi-billion dollar oil sands project to owning full P&L at a scrappy ad tech startup, filing taxes for Chinese immigrants on the side. What those years taught me: details mean everything, surface every controllable variable, and over-communicate when things get uncertain.

I tested that when COVID shifted the education company I co-founded overnight. Fifty students, twelve tutors, two weeks to pivot to online. We retained everyone.

Now I bring that same approach to product design in fintech and AI, most recently running prompt engineering experiments that eliminated three months of planned development in a single day.

Years painting hyper-realistic portraits taught me to explain not just what looks off, but why. Living across Sydney, SF, Hong Kong, Milan, and Vancouver taught me how people feel delight, confusion, and trust differently.

That's the lens I bring to every design decision.
